The SlideMinder Slope Monitoring & Warning System was developed in 2003 by engineers and geologists at the consulting firm Call & Nicholas Inc. to provide clients with a reliable, affordable, and easy-to-use slope monitoring alternative.

  • SLOPE MOVEMENT ANALYSIS: Software displays measurements and graphs displacement, velocity and system data.

  • ACCURATE REAL-TIME MEASUREMENTS: Measures movement to 0.01cm and monitors throughout slope failure without damage to the extensometer.

  • AUTOMATED WARNINGS & ALARMS: On-site warning beacons, automated text and email alerts.

  • PRECIPITATION MEASUREMENT: Mounted rain gauge records precipitation at the monitoring location.

  • MINIMAL SITE PREP: Small tripod footprint with no required line power.

  • SCALABLE: Start with as little as one extensometer and add more as needed. Additional units are easily added after initial server setup.

Call & Nicholas Instruments, Inc. has become the leader in Wireline Extensometer Slope Monitoring equipment.

With hundreds of units deployed to date, SlideMinders are reporting the critical data needed for Engineering Design and Operational Safety at locations around the world.

Built in Tucson, Arizona, SlideMinders are deployed worldwide in a variety of diverse and often harsh conditions. Self-contained, self-charging, self-reporting and easily deployed, SlideMinders gather and report critical data remotely using radio and/or local Wi-Fi networks to a local server for analysis and warning evaluation.  SlideMinders can be easily added to the network and controlled using our proprietary web-based server software, called OREAD, which is included with the initial order of SlideMinder extensometers.

Our dedication to providing our clients with a superior and intuitive product at an affordable price has earned us a reputation as an essential component for any slope monitoring project. Call or email us today to discuss how a SlideMinder Slope Monitoring & Warning System can be integrated into your operation. We look forward to working with you!

tHE second Generation Slideminder

  • Field proven to withstand rugged conditions and extreme temperatures

  • Wi-Fi and FHSS radio technologies do not interfere with existing communications. Internationally complient

  • Complete customization of alarms allows geotechnical personnel to set user-defined warnings for multiple velocities and displacements for each machine

  • Warnings and alarms can activate strobes and be sent via cell phones, web browsers, and e-mail

  • Stand-alone system operates remotely and requires very little maintenance

  • Software utilizes web-based graphing engine that can be viewed and controlled on any computer on the network

  • Allows monitoring throughout a slope failure without damage to the unit

  • Powder coated NEMA4 enclosure

  • Measurements: 16x12x7 inches

The SlideMinder Slope Monitoring & Warning System works using our proprietary server software, OREAD. Easy to use and reliable, OREAD uses an intuitive graphical user interface. The Web-Based design allows easy access for authorized users from multiple locations.

Easily graph the following.

  • Displacement

  • Velocity

  • Inverse Velocity

  • Battery Voltage and Recharge

  • Temperature

  • Precipitation

OREAD is also where users set and edit Alarms.  Alarms are designed to activate warning devices, if desired, send out emails or text messages to appropriate personnel when specified slope displacement and/or velocities are exceeded. OREAD is included and installed with the initial SlideMinder installation.

  • Windows 7, 64-bit, 1 GB RAM

  • USB port

  • Video card
